20TH CENTURY 18 CARAT GOLD BETROTHAL RING


New York, 1970s, by Hirshel Pekkar, fully marked inside band.

Classical style of 17th century German betrothal rings. The black band engraved with flower surmounted by a building with hinged roof with the words mazel tov opening to reveal a Shabbat table with two candles and a miniature challot 1 ½  high, ¾  wide. Literature: Chaya Benjamin, the Stieglitz Collection Jerusalem, 1987, for original 17th century ring.

20th century rings ( some have marks and dates) American marriage ring ( 1959 by Ilya Schor Silver, depicting a bride, and groom standing beneath a wedding canopy with flower blossom between their heads. The wide band engraved with 3 children holding lit candles in each hand and two ovals in- scribed with Hebrew words mazel and tov -the band dated 1959 and signed I. Schor. Interior inscribed with " hagillal " let us rejoice.
